What’s your take on the 30 Day Squat Challenge? I’m only on day 7 and feel like giving up! My legs have been so sore, and I can’t imagine doing more than 100 squats. I find that using my body weight is easy, but do you recommend that I use dumb bells… HELP!!!
While I’m all for fitness and things that inspire and get people moving, the reality of challenges like this are not smart training.
These “daily challenges” that float around social media make it seem like every body type reacts to these exercises the same way.
People are more likely to accept these challenges without the realization (or consideration) of factors such as:
risk of injury, limited results, muscle imbalance, age and genetics.
Most importantly, your body needs at least 48 hours to recover from a muscle training session before training the same muscle group again. This is how muscle builds to strengthen and tone our bodies.
So while these challenges may look fun and doable, remember results will happen if we give our muscles time to repair – only then will you finally start to see your body change!
There are some great programs and challenges out there, but the proper ones will include instructions and guidance to avoid issues as to the above.
